Eoin McGrath is the Executive Officer of JACIE (www.jacie.org), the international voluntary accreditation body for bone marrow transplantation units. He joined the European Group for Blood and Marrow Transplantation (EBMT), one of JACIE's parent organisations, in 2002 in the society's secretariat based in Barcelona, Spain. Since then, JACIE has moved from strength to strength in terms of interest by transplantation centres. Since 2000, over 240 centres from 17 countries including Saudi Arabia and Israel have applied for accreditation. Over 230 inspections have been performed during this period and 186 accreditations have been awarded.
Eoin worked for Dublin City Libraries from 1992-2002 as a librarian and availed of a sabbatical to study history at Trinity College, Dublin where he was awarded a BA in 1996. In 1999 he completed a Diploma in Library and Information Studies at University College, Dublin.
Eoin brings experiences of working in a not-for-profit medical organisation, of regulatory issues and standards. He is delighted to join
the A&D Board in order to share JACIE's experience and to learn from OECI's practices and approach to accreditation.
